Joyful Line Dance

The Joyful Line Dance Club recently celebrated its 9th year.  In August 2023 classes moved to Clubhouse 2 to accommodate more participants looking to improve their emotional and physical wellbeing and live healthy, happy lives after retirement.  Since the move to the larger facility there has been an increase in the number of new, inexperienced dancers enrolled in the classes.  Each month club members learn different line dances.  Classes begin at 10:00 to 10:30  for beginners and 10:30 to 12:30 for intermediates on Thursday mornings, in CH 2.

The Joyful Line Dance Club encourages men and women get up off the couch and come out to learn to line dance and socialize with others to enhance healthy aging.  Recently the club has had an increase in its male membership.  There are ten regular volunteer leaders:  Albert and Gladys Comia, Carmel Adkinson, George Pinada, Chung Cha Lewis, Sunny Kim, Gina Baik, Karen Kei, Nak Soo Kim,  Elizabeth Kim, and Anna Derby.

Each class begins with a warm-up dance of either the Electric Slide or Mambo Italiano and continues with fun and easy dances set to music by Albert Comia. Dance movements are taken from other popular dances such as the Cha Cha, Rumba, West Coast Swing, Tango, Cumbia, Fox Trot, Samba, Disco, Tango, Salsa, Meringue, Boogie Jive and Waltz.

After a short break, the second hour of class moves into intermediate or advanced dances to satisfy seasoned club members need for more challenging movements.

For health and safety reasons dancers are required to wear athletic footware or dancing shoes. For registration new club members are asked to make a nominal donation to the club and all are welcome.
