LW Cloggers

LWCloggersClub Clogging is a folk dance that traces its roots to the Appalachian Mountains, near the junctions of Tennessee, Kentucky and Virginia. With influences from Ireland, England, Wales, Scotland, German, and Cherokee step dance.

The dance emphasis the downbeat of the music with heel clicking, toe tapping and stomp steps. Appalachian Clogging is associated with bluegrass, old time music based on Scots-Irish fiddle tunes. Today Clogging is being choreographed to all forms of music, Western, Broadway Tunes, Rock and Roll, Dixieland,and Jazz.The dance shoes have double-sided taps which produce a jingling sound. The lively steps and rhythms are fun for both audience and performers. The LW Cloggers meet every Wednesday on the amphitheater stage, everyone is welcome.
