The Leisure World Opera Club meets once a month on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 1:30 p.m. in the Clubhouse 3 Learning Center (enter through the Clubhouse 3 lobby). At each meeting we watch one complete opera. We show operas in Italian, French, English, German, Russian, etc., always with English subtitles. Sometimes the operas we watch are on DVD-Blueray and sometimes we stream them from subscription services such as the Metropolitan Opera in New York and Medici.tv in Paris, France. The opera being watched is announced in the LW Weekly with a synopsis a week before the opera is shown. We like to watch operas from different time periods and have a good mix of comedy and drama. We listen to both traditional and contemporary composers. At each meeting a member provides a brief introduction to the opera and we have a brief discussion afterwards. We do not charge dues or fees.
