Transportation

Our Minibus system operates seven days a week, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 7:15 p.m. and on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays from 7a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Friday there are four separate and distinct routes in service between approximately 8:35 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. with a more limited availability of bus service during the off-peak hours and on the weekend and holidays. The Golden Rain Minibuses are easily identifiable by their blue and white color. Each month the daily and weekend Minibus routes average a boarding count between 5,000 and 6,000 passengers. There are over 100 bus benches in LW for the convenience of residents.  Our Transportation department has been environmentally conscious for over thirty (30) years by using cleaner burning LPG (propane) fuel in at least half of the Minibus fleet.

There are five regular weekday bus routes: A, B, C, D and the evening bus. Apartment locations allow most residents easy access to more than one bus route. A, B, C and D routes each make 10 trips per day Monday through Friday, 38 minutes per trip, with a five-minute wait at the Health Care Center between trips and a twenty-minute layover twice daily.

On Saturday, Sunday, most Holidays, and off-peak hours, the Minibus route schedule is limited to just one bus in circulation on mostly the primary streets within the community.

Every bus route, regardless of the letter, will go to each of the following locations: the Main Gate, the Seal Beach Village Shopping Center, the Health Care Center on Golden Rain Road, the Golden Rain Library and all Clubhouses (route A does not stop a Clubhouse 2). Monday – Friday, 8:35 a.m. until 4:15 p.m. There is a bus at the above locations every few minutes, all day long.

An appointment based Access (wheelchair lift) bus service is available in the same areas as our regular Minibus routes. Call ext. 379 for an appointment.

New minibus schedule booklets are delivered to all residents as changes in schedules warrant. Copies are also available at the Main Gate office, the Library, the GR News office and from the drivers onboard every Minibus. The schedule booklets also include contact information for other transportation services such as the free Seal Beach Senior Dial-A-Ride transportation service and the OCTA Access Bus services for those with mobility challenges or disabilities. The booklet also includes information about the free City of Seal Beach bus service that provides free transportation between our community and the Old Ranch Towne Center and the Shops at Rossmoor Shopping Centers (Target, Ralphs, Kohls, and Sprouts). Information regarding the Seal Beach Senior Meals near the Shops at Rossmoor is also included.

Other transportation outside our community is available via two (2) Orange County Transit District bus routes that stop at our community’s main entrance seven days a week.
