TRANSPORTATION

Our Minibus system operates Monday through Saturday from about 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday mornings. The fleet consists of eight buses that travel about 10,000 miles per month. Monthly passenger count is between 14,000 and 16,000. There are over 100 bus benches in LW for the convenience of residents.  Our Transportation department is environmentally concsious and uses propane fuel for all of the buses.

There are five regular bus routes: A, B, C, D and the
evening bus. Apartment locations allow most residents easy access to more than one bus route. A, B, C and D routes each make 12 trips per day Monday through Saturday, 38 minutes per trip, with a five-minute wait at the Health Care Center between trips.

On Sunday the schedule is set primarily to get residents to and from our churches. This is completed by 1:30 p.m. At this time, three buses stop running, and one bus continues the rest of the day and evening.

Only routes B and D go to Clubhouse 2. All four bus routes (A,B,C and D) go to clubhouses 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6, the Library, Main Gate, Shopping Center and Health Care Center. There is a bus at the above locations every few minutes, all day long.

An on-call wheelchair access bus service is available in the same areas as the regular minibus routes. Call ext. 379 for an appointment.

New minibus schedule booklets are delivered to all residents as changes in schedules warrant. Copies are also available at the Main Gate office. The booklets include a list of other transportation services such as, Dial-A-Ride and transportation for the frail and disabled. They also includes information about the bus that provides free transportation between our community and the Senior Meals program in Rossmoor Center and between our community and Old Ranch Town Center (Target and Ralphs).

Other transportation outside our community is available via Orange County Transit District buses that stop at the main entrance to the community.
