Updated Monthly Assessment Information

January 22, 2015

On Dec. 19, the GRF Board of Directors approved a reduction in the GRF monthly assessments by $3.15, effective for eleven months commencing Feb. 1.

The week of January 26, shareholders will receive, via U.S. mail under separate cover, a letter that communicates to them the new monthly assessment amount that reflects the Board-approved reduction and new coupon books for those who pay by check. The coupon books will be sent directly to shareholders from the coupon printing vendor and should arrive the first week of February.

Beginning with the February assessment payment, GRF has switched from processing check payments in-house to using a lockbox service. The new remittance address is:

Golden Rain Foundation
PO Box 51996
Los Angeles, CA 90051-6296

If you pay your monthly assessments by check, this new remittance address will be printed on your new coupons. For members who use their bank’s bill payment services, please be sure to change the remittance address and reference the AP number on your check as stated on your new coupons. When using your bank’s bill payment service, please set up your payment having sufficient lead time to ensure your payment is received by the first of each month.

As a reminder, your payments are due on the first of each month and they are considered late if not received by the 15th of the month. Because of the special mailing of new coupons, there will be no late fees assessed in the month of February. Although you may continue using the white payment boxes throughout Leisure World, your payments will be processed much quicker if you send your payments directly to the remittance address above.

Source of Natural Gas Odors Identified

January 7, 2015

At approximately 3:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, the Security Department received multiple calls from Shareholders complaining about a very strong natural gas odor. The Fire Department was called and upon arrival determined that the petroleum-based odor was coming from offshore drilling or refineries west of Leisure World. The gas odors arrived in waves that generally lasted 10 to 25 minutes.

If in the future you smell gas the first thing you should do is to report it to Security or, if you are an employee, your supervisor. Security or your supervisor will investigate and if needed they will order you to evacuate the building. If the gas odor is coming from offshore drilling or refineries and is strong enough to irritate your eyes or airways it is recommended that you remain indoors while the odor persists.
