A Course in Miracles is an agent of inner healing. The Course both diagnoses the problem and combines wisdom, beauty, logic and compassion into a remedy that is at once simple, practical, and extremely effective. In a world filled with pain and suffering, there seems to be a limitless number of problems, of all kinds and on all levels. This leads us into an endless, frantic juggling act of trying to keep our lives from being swallowed up by the difficulties that face us on all fronts. The Course seeks to cut through this bewildering complexity right to the core problem of human existence, and to there lay its gentle remedy. From the external tragedies of war, famine, disease and death; to the deeper, inner crisis of loneliness, emptiness and despair, to the cosmic spiritual dilemma of separation from God, they are all the same. One problem, one solution. Salvation is accomplished. It is a conflict in our own minds, between our freely chosen beliefs and our own best interests. The Course in Miracles is therefore a course in mind training teaching us to make the choices that will bring us inner peace.
