Wa-Rite Club

The Wa-Rite Club was treated to an interesting program about the many aspects of learning to eat healthy at the June 10 meeting.

Nancy Pomicter presented nutritional information about vitamins, nuts, hypoglycemia, belly fat, thyroid problems, high fructos corn syrup used in processed foods, sweetners, chia seeds, shrinking the stomach, and training the brain to like healthy food.

The club learned about mild cognitive impairment from a deficiency of Vitamin B12.

Beef liver and clams are the best sources of B12. As people age, their bodies may not absorb B12 as readily as needed.

Symptoms of low B12 may include tiredness, constipation, weight loss, anemia, balance problems, poor memory, incontinence, hypotension and other problems.

B12 is available to take in sublingual form, by injection, or in nasal gel form.

Judy Chambers was the loser of the week after dropping 3- 1/2-pounds.

Wa-Rite is a club for women who need support to lose excess weight and maintain it.

The club meets Fridays in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. The weight recorder begins weigh-ins from 8-8:50 a.m. The program begins at 9 a.m.
