Scrabble Club

The Scrabble Club meets from 1-4 p.m. Wednesdays in Clubhouse 3, Room 5. Players compete one-on-one unless an odd number of players arrive.

March was notable since eight bingo hands were played. A bingo is worth 50 extra points and occurs when a player uses all seven tiles in one turn.

Last month, bingos were scored by Monica Barber with “painted,” and “gutters,” Florence Nesland, “sickens” and “stapled;” Florence Thompson, “florist, bakers and pattern;” Larry Edgar, “orbiting,” and Maria Giegerich, “drawers.”

The highest scores in March were compiled by Edgar, 354, 353; Giegerich, 356, 347; Nesland, 361, 352; Sandy Derouin, 363; Barber, 347; Sylvia Makus, 354; Thompson, 355, 389; and Mark Scott, 347.

Most players score in the 200s.

Games are played beginning at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. New players are asked to arrive early so “house rules” can be reviewed.

Those who may be uncomfortable playing three consecutive games are advised to arrive early so they can be accommodated.

All residents are welcome to play.
