Sunshine Club

Guest speakers will introduce Superwire, The News

Bob McCauley, vice president of operations at Superwire will answer the question, “What Does Superwire Do?” during his presentation to the Sunshine Club at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 8, in Clubhouse 3, Room 2.

Following his presentation will be Kelly Roberts, GRF publications manager, who will discuss The News and advertising.

McCauly will explain the difference between Time Warner and Superwire services; give a description of bulk service TV and its benefits; discuss the services and products available at the Leisure World Superwire office; and what services are provided by Superwire personnel in the customers’ residence.

Superwire/Time Warner will sponsor the Four Freshmen Amphitheater show on July 28 and sponsor events throughout the year for LW clubs and organizations. It also provides wireless “hot spots” at the clubhouses and Internet and phone service to GRF offices.

Many customers have a relationship with Superwire and have its service, but do not know what the company contributes to the community and shareholders.

There will be question-and-answer session following the presentation.

McCauley will explain the Time Warner merger with Charter and how it doesn’t effect service to LW Superwire Telecom, Inc., subscribers.

Roberts will use a PowerPoint presentation to get a pulse on the perception of advertising in The News, and to get an idea of what entices readers to patronize the advertisers.

Shareholders are asked to arrive early since a large crowd is expected.

The club’s annual picnic is Saturday, July 16, at the Clubhouse 1 picnic area. Bento lunch boxes will be ordered so that all will be able to have a good time and not have to do a lot of set-up and clean-up. Lunches must be pre-ordered with Anna Derby at the meeting or before by calling her at 301-5339.

The picnic will include a display of photos from past events, socializing and entertainment by Joyful Line Dance members. There will be a couple audience participation dances.

The Sunshine Club’s annual rummage sale raises money to give back to th ecommunity and to purchase refreshments for Sunshine Club meetings. To donate items for the sale, call and she will arrange a pick-up.

The club meets from 10 a.m.-noon on Fridays, in Clubhouse 3, Room 2 (except the first Friday in Room 8). All shareholders are welcome to attend; membership is not required. There are no membership dues. English is spoken in class.

Bring a mug for refreshments to help “save the earth” and the cost of paper cups.

Schmooze Club

Telecommunication is topic July 12

Bob McCauley, vice president of operations at Superwire Telecommunication, Inc. , will be the featured speaker at the Schmooze Club meeting on Tuesday, July 12 in Clubhouse 3, Room 9. Refreshments and “schmoozing” (socializing) begin at 10 a.m. followed by the program at 10:30.

McCauley is a familiar name and face in Leisure World. As head of the Superwire office behind the Friends of the Library Bookstore near the North Gate, he has made many presentations in LW keeping residents up-to-date and making the unfamiliar and often confusing, world of technology clearer to LWers, who find the rapidly changing technological environment overwhelming. In his usual friendly, affable, and patient manner, McCauley will discuss “What the Technology Future Holds” and the recent switch from Time Warner to Spectrum. There will be ample time for questions-and answers from the audience.

There is no cost to attend his timely presentation. Guests are welcome.

The Schmooze Club will be on summer recess during August, and will resume in September.
