Mutual 5 resident Mitzi Winks is grateful to her neighbors and all others who donated grocery bags for plastic yarn, called “plarn” to be crocheted into sleeping mats for the homeless. It takes between 500-700 bags to produce one mat. The goal is to make six mats in time for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday. inks needs paper bags donated and volunteer crocheters. Setting It Straight

It was incorrectly reported last week that the Golden Age Foundation would have a 50/50 raffle at the July 23 showing of “Zootopia.” GAF raffles are for the July 30 screening of “Monkey Kingdom,” and the Sept. 22 screening of “McFarland USA,” which the GAF is also co-sponsoring.
