Emergency Information Council (EIC)

The EIC, Inc. is a California Corporation and Federal IRS 501(c)(3) Charity.

The purpose of the corporation is exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, including, for such purposes, the receiving of contributions and the making of distributions to other entities in the service of the purposes for which the corporation is incorporated. The purposes of the corporation are specifically stated herein as follows:

Compiling and making available emergency management and response information and preparedness planning mainly through publication and maintenance of information booklets and pamphlets and also developing and implementing disaster response plans and activities and materials within the community of Leisure World Seal Beach. The main goal is to develop a community resilient in the face of any disaster or emergency. All residents of Leisure World are welcome to join at any time.

The EIC meets on the second Thursday of the odd numbered months in Building 5 conference room B at 1pm. It also sponsors events on the second Monday of the month in clubhouse 4 at 1pm. Check the newspaper to be sure there is an event.

Notable initiatives sponsored by the EIC include:

The emergency response guide called “Boots On Ground” which serves to coordinate participating clubs and a command structure during response to a disaster.

The “Grab Go” guide to products and materials every residence should have available to take with them should they have to evacuate during an emergency.

Family Radio Service (FRS) check-in practice on Wednesdays at 9:30am.

The Emergency Preparedness Expo where clubs and vendors feature emergency preparedness materials and information.

Activities also include presenting speakers on emergency preparedness topics.
