Welcome Home

Leisure World is a nationally recognized gated community of active 55-plus residents located in sunny, breezy Seal Beach, California. It debuted in 1962 as the nation’s first planned retirement community for seniors.

The comfort of small town gated living with an abundance of on-site amenities—plus easy access to beaches, airports, entertainment and shopping in Orange County and nearby Los Angeles—make this a dream place to retire.

Our Community

Spread over 531 park-like acres, Leisure World Seal Beach (LWSB) offers people aged 55 and older condos and co-ops nestled in wide green spaces for resort-style living.

The community has a 9-hole, 3-par golf course, swimming facilities, community gardens, specialty arts and crafts rooms, fitness and exercise rooms, sports courts, five clubhouses, free bus service, an on-site health care center and a fully staffed 24-hour security service.

There are more than 160 clubs, plus sponsored events and excursions to area landmarks, a free summer concert series in the Amphitheater and a host of other activities specially designed to keep residents socially, mentally, and physically active.

Leisure World Seal Beach is a sheltered oasis for seniors looking for a busy and satisfying life.

With over 9,500 residents, Leisure World represents over one third of the population of the City of Seal Beach. Our fully gated community has been going strong for 60 years. Our community is divided into 16 self-governing Mutuals.

The Mutual Corporations are the owners of the 16 communities within Leisure World. Mutual 17 is the only condominium association. Mutuals 1-16 are stock cooperative entities. There is no Mutual 13.

Each of the Mutuals has an elected, volunteer, Board of Directors that manages the residential property. Each of the Mutuals also elects volunteer representation to the Golden Rain Foundation Board of Directors.

The Golden Rain Foundation (GRF) administers the shared trust property and facilities owned by the Mutual Corporations.
Golden Age Foundation
The Golden Age Foundation is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization established in 1973 to improve the quality of Leisure World life. Through the generous support of volunteers, individual donors, and organizations, the Golden Age Foundation has conceived and implemented many programs that continue to benefit our community at no cost to our shareholders.
